Join Wakefield's top writing group and prosper!

If you’re getting started as a writer, there’s no better way than to join a local writing group and get to know others like you.
In 1998, I was co-founder (along with Wakefield poet Roger Manns) of the Black Horse Poets. We took our name from the Black Horse pub in Wakefield where we originally met. Also, along the way, we formed a separate group for prose writers and called it Wakefield Word.
Things have changed a lot since then. Currently, both groups meet once a month on different weeks for two hours in the evening at the Red Shed social club, 18 Vicarage St South, Wakefield WF1 1QX.
What do we actually do? We read our work to each other and receive friendly criticism. Secretary of the group is Colin Hollis who can be contacted on
[email protected] for any further details.
I can only say that the support of the group has helped me greatly over the years.
